First Day of School

I went to bed anxious for today as if it were my first day of school.

My visions of a happy family breakfast didn't exactly pan out and things were a bit rushed. That may have had something to do with my ridiculous plan to make myself presentable this morning, rather than just getting everyone out the door.

We found his room and walked in to discover that he had a new teacher after we had spent all weekend reminding him who to listen to and who to tell when he had to go to the bathroom. But, this teacher knew his name the moment he walked in the room, and he didn't seem to notice a difference, so we just rolled with it.

He put his lunch in his cubby and we kissed him goodbye. I worried that the kids melting down around him would set him off, but he seemed just fine, if a bit confused. We watched from the window for a minute, and then headed home.

He's a big boy. I can hardly believe it.

I was nominated for a "You've Just Been Spotted" OC Blog Award in the Personal/Family Blogs category. It's stiff competition and I would love to not come in dead last! Go here to see the list of nominees and to vote. My friend Wendy of Whimsy and Wise Events was nominated in the Creative and Lifestyle & Design categories if you're feeling generous with your votes!

And it looks like we have babies about the same age, too.

Found you through SITS! Stop by and visit if you can. :)

  3. Yay for happy first days! The whole other kids melting down thing always puts me on edge. Fortunately, this year everyone seems more comfortable with school and there are fewer drop off hysterics all around.
