Halloween Crafts

I'm not crafty. I repeat: I am not crafty. At all.

However.

I've been making an attempt to channel my inner Martha by trying new recipes and maybe, maybe, attempting to embrace the crafts.

There's really no better time of year, now that the holiday season is careening toward us, to dip my toe into the crafting water. There's no shortage of inspiration and if something goes wrong, I can always pass it off as a preschool art project.

I'm finally working my way through a large stack of magazines and am finding some things that I think even I can master.

Like all of these, from Good Housekeeping (related:when did I become the girl who traded Glamour and In Style for Good Housekeeping and Family Circle? Probably right about the time yoga pants made the transition from pajamas to clothes, huh?):

Truth be told, the bling isn't really my style, but my mother-in-law would go crazy for these and I would cement my position as world's greatest daughter-in-law.

How about these adorable Halloween string lights. How cute would these look hanging in your backyard during your Halloween party?

Instructions for string lights found here.

If I attempt just one thing, I think it will be these beribboned pumpkins. I despise carving pumpkins, but this is the kind of decorating I can get behind.

What do you think? Are you crafty? Do the holidays inspire you to break out the glue gun?

  1. I am sooooo not crafty. The best I can do is staple strips of paper together into a chain that can be used as an Advent calendar. Our kid is screwed, basically.

I do have a friend who was inspired by those same pumpkin ribbons to do something similar, and they turned out great. She blogged about it, actually: http://mckevitts.blogspot.com/2009/09/cozying-up-for-fall-part-3_30.html
