Heat, Treats and Eats

*The weather here continues to be oppressive. The kids had to stay inside for lunch at school on Friday, which was an exciting treat for them. Not so much for the teachers, I imagine. We had a soccer game on Saturday in 103 degree heat. Half of the kids on the other team didn’t show up, so our team was able to sub kids out every few minutes. For our family of four, we had to bring three chairs, an umbrella, lunch for Bubette, tons of water, all of the sunscreen in the world, and the team banner. (Team Mom, yo.) I’m going to buy one of those rolling beach carts and I’m going to love it so much and not feel even a little bit embarrassed.

*We went to my parents’ house last night for my birthday (later this week.) My dad mentioned to their neighbor that it was my birthday, and a little while later she showed up with treats.

We like her. I also came  home with a box full of Sprinkles cupcakes. Those are going straight to the neighbors this morning.

*My friend Wendy is doing a second round of her weight loss challenge, and I’ve joined. I promise not to bombard you with update posts this time around, but tomorrow is our second weigh in, and things aren’t going well. Admittedly, the birthday treats aren’t helping, but I’ve had an otherwise good week. (I’m eating quinoa!) I’m not really sure what’s happening, unless 33 is the year that my metabolism finally takes a permanent leave of absence. Last time I would have sworn that chia seeds were the key to my success, so I’m headed out to get some this week.

*I stumbled upon the Big Brother Leak twitter feed (lots of spoilers! Click with caution!)  this morning, and I’m both stressed out and super excited for the finale on Wednesday. Aaaand that’s all of my birthday plans, summed up in one sad 90 minute reality show finale.
