Last year a went a bit crazy for yarn wreaths. I made one for Christmas, and made one that I could hang year round.
It was looking kind of sad, because I had stolen a bunch of the flowers off of it for another project, and never replaced them.
Then I started seeing a ton of fall yarn wreaths and really wanted one. When I made the one above, I attached the flowers with pins, rather than glue, so they’re removable.
So, I pulled picked up felt in every fall color I could find. It was on sale, 5 sheets of felt for $1, so this was a super cheap update.
Even if you ultimately plan to glue your flowers or other decorations on to your wreath, I still recommend pinning them on first so you can decide if you like the placement.
I decided that looked a little too crowded, so I moved a few of the flowers up top and like that a bit better. I got crazy and added felt leaves this time, too.
I have pearl tipped pins, so yes you can see them on the flowers, but that doesn’t bother me. You could buy pins without the tip, and they would be nearly invisible. Or, you can glue your flowers on, which is what I have always in the past, Ultimately, I would like to change the ribbon, too. So that might bring the total of this project to $2, once I find something I like.
These are all over Etsy, for like $30, but you can easily make one yourself for $10. I found the wreath forms in the dollar section at Target recently, and bought a ton of them because that’s the most expensive part of this project (usually $6 at Michaels.)
Update: The felt flowers are SUPER easy. Does anyone want a tutorial?
What a fun project. I also like the idea that you could pin fresh leaves/flowers of the season to make it festive, too.
ReplyDeleteYes! There are so many cute things that you can do. I'm stuck in the felt flower loop, but I've seen friends do really cute things with theirs. (Wooden letters, Easter eggs, Christmas ornaments)
DeleteOf course! I'd love a tutorial.
ReplyDeleteOkay! I'm thinking of... vlogging it. EEP!
DeleteSo cute! I pinned a bunch of wreaths while I was pregnant with Daniel, but I have yet to make any of them. Although, I did buy stuff for a Christmas one, so maybe I'll get that one done for this year.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Now if I could just convince my husband he doesn't dislike wreaths....
